  • Big Business: Direct Marketing and Direct Response Television are part of an enormous and rapidly growing industry. By 2007, total direct marketing spending is expected to reach $175.2 Billion (Source: Direct Marketing Association). In addition, from 2005 to 2010, the industry is projected to grow by 13.5% (Source: Datamonitor). Companies like Dell, Bowflex, Tempur-Pedic, and Nutrisystem are major spenders in the Direct Marketing industry. Computer giant Dell alone spent more than $81.4 Million on DRTV marketing in just the fourth quarter of 2006, and the top 40 spenders tallied more than $560 Million in Q4 2006 (Source: Response Magazine). In 2006, marketers spent $166.5 Billion on Direct Marketing in the United States.
  • Big Results: The reason for the tremendous growth in spending on Direct Marketing is simple: it works. In 2006, Direct Marketing advertising expenditures generated $1.93 Trillion in incremental sales, and Direct Marketing driven sales from 2007 estimated spending are expected to exceed $2.064 Trillion (Source: Direct Marketing Association).
