Building with Green Technology
March 31, 2008
Despite the much publicized downturn in the housing market, the fact is that the construction industry outlook remains strong. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 1.98 Million new homes were built in 2006, and an additional 1.52 Million are expected in 2007. The number of total U.S. households was 108,871,000 in 2005 including mobile homes and apartments. This has kept demand for construction materials high. According to the Engineered Wood Association (APA), North American structural wood panel production is expected to total 40.2 Billion square feet for 2007 down just slightly from the record mark of 43.1 Billion in 2005. However, the dynamics of this industry are changing, and like many other industries, there is increasing pressure to find environmentally friendly "green" solutions.
Greenstone Holdings, Inc. (OTC: GSHN) is a "GREEN" chemical technology company that provides a full range of "green" solutions to the building and construction industry. This includes protecting structures from environmental elements including moisture, corrosion, fire, and even asbestos. Greenstone's key technology, GreenShield™ is one of the most advanced and effective processes on the market today. Greenstone is so confident in the effectiveness of its products that the Company has solicited independent third-party testing of its products in an effort to demonstrate the superior performance that can be achieved through the use of GreenShield™ and other advanced formulations and products. Since all of the above products are "green," they appeal to a rapidly growing demand in the market for environmentally friendly products.
The need for the types of products supplied by Greenstone is readily apparent. Nationwide insurance claims for water damage are more than $25 Billion per year, and corrosion costs the U.S. almost $300 Billion a year. The concrete construction market in the U.S. is over $100 Billion, and the FHA spends over $8 Billion on corrosion maintenance for 600,000 bridges across the U.S. Greenstone's unique GreenShield™ technology is focused on the $30 Billion water damage market, and two of its other products, Permeate™ & MagneLine®, are marketed to the $300 Billion Corrosion and $100 Billion Concrete markets.
All of Greenstone's products cover a wide range of applications in the building and construction industry, and are innovative, unique, and "green". The Company's product line includes GreenShield™ that protects wood from weather, termites and fire, Permeate™ that protects and paints metal and concrete structures, Magneline™ that repairs, reinforces and protects metal-concrete structures, Green-Dri™ that dries wood more quickly without damage, and Crystal-Guard™, a treatment specifically designed to safely treat asbestos. The advantages of these products are obvious, and the potential range of applications is virtually limitless, and since all of the above products are "green," they appeal to a rapidly growing demand in the market for environmentally friendly products.
