One of the most well-known adages among equestrians is the saying, “No hoof – no horse.” In other words, the health of a horse’s hooves is of paramount importance to overall health. In a study conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, it was determined that lameness strikes as many as 13.7% of horses every year, resulting in as much as $1 Billion in losses and expenditures and ranking lameness as the single most costly of conditions that commonly afflict horses (Source: USDA). What was even more serious was the fact that between 2% and 3% of cases result in the death of the afflicted animal. Prevention of even a small portion of total lameness cases could save literally tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars annually.

HY’BRED International (OTC: HYII) has spent five years in research, development and testing in conjunction with advise from several of the country’s premier farriers, veterinarians and jockeys and to bring to market a high quality therapeutic horse shoe which has multiple, world-wide equestrian applications extending from horse racing to mounted police units. With more than a dozen ways that steel shoes are known to damage the feet, legs, and circulatory system of the horse, one of the worst damages comes from loss of shock absorption. HY’BRED has developed an innovative composite horseshoe that combines advanced materials and cutting-edge design to incorporate the latest technology to reduce impact and increase shock absorption. The HY'BRED horseshoe is the most advanced Aluminum/Rubber horseshoe on the market today. Unsurpassed shock absorption, superior traction and improved protection, combined with the best wear resistance of any synthetic horseshoe makes the HY'BRED the ultimate choice for every horse.

A 2005 study by the American Horse Council found that the American horse industry had grown to $39 Billion, expanding by 55% over the previous 9 years. The horse population stood at 9.2 Million, a 33% increase over the same period (Source: American Horse Council). Since the average shoeing lasts approximately one month, the total shoe market in the U. S. alone is roughly 432 Million shoes per year, representing a demand of approximately $3.2 Billion annually. Worldwide, the estimated 52 Million horses outside the U.S. represent an additional market of approximately $18.7 Billion annually (Source: HY’BRED International). Designed to absorb high-frequency vibrations which can cause bone, joint and tendon injuries, the HY'BRED Shoe uses a specially formulated urethane that is bonded to a thin aluminum horseshoe. Applied just like a regular horseshoe, the HY'BRED shoe can reduce and/or prevent many concussion-related injuries such as splints and swollen legs/joints. At present, the therapeutic horseshoe market accounts for slightly less than 15% of the overall market with roughly $15 Million in annual sales.

In testing the validity of the HY'BRED Sport Shoes' claims, the Company been able to utilize its unique shoe design to address number of equine concerns. Case studies have been conclusive in their findings that the shoe provides significant benefits to the soundness of the equine athlete. The unique design recognizes the importance of the ability to slide a bit before contact, enabling a more natural fluid movement. Once the hoof has ground contact it was equally important to provide confident stability which the HY’BRED design offers. Numerous studies have shown the concussive benefits of a urethane-to-ground over the steel/aluminum-to-ground connection. The HY'BRED shoe provides the ability to absorb loading force, significantly providing substantial shock reduction characteristics, providing potential relief for horses with multiple pathologies including osteochondrosis, splints, sidebone, ringbone, arthritis or degenerative joint disease, caudal heel pain, and laminitis.
