Therapeutic Value
May 19, 2008

There are approximately 28 million golfers and 16 million baseball/softball players who participate more than once each year, 27 million athletes who play organized basketball, 13 million soccer players, and almost 23 million athletes that participate in some form of track and field. These tremendous levels of participation in athletics and physical activity inevitably bring with them associated aches and pains. This demand has resulted in sustained growth in rehabilitation and therapy. For example, offices of physical, occupational and speech therapists, and audiologists tallied $10.76 Billion in revenues in 2002, up nearly 24% in just five years (Source: U.S. Census Bureau). Concurrent with this growth has been the rising use of new technology in all fields of medicine, this trend has been no different in the rehabilitation therapy sector. The growth of Virtual Reality technologies in rehabilitation and therapy in the U.S. is expected to rise by approximately 50% from 2006 to 2010 (Source: Kalorama Information). In the United States, the rehabilitation therapy industry generates approximately $11 Billion annually. In addition, the industry is highly fragmented, with no single company having more than 5% market share and the top 50 companies holding less than 25% (Source: Hoover’s). This fragmentation presents tremendous opportunities for innovative companies to penetrate this dynamic market.

JZZ Technologies, Inc. (OTC: JZZI) is an industry leader in 3D motion capture analysis software. The Company provides unique software solutions to physical therapists, physicians, chiropractors, sport specific training facilities, coaches, recruiters and similar professions throughout all 50 states and internationally. JZZ Technologies currently offers two unique and cutting-edge products for this rapidly expanding sector: E-Factor, a software program that captures and evaluates biomechanical efficiency in sports motion, exercise technique, running, or other physical activity, and Fit-Factor, a software program that captures and measures simple and complex joint range of motion. Fit-Factor provides practitioners the ability to perform accurate, objective, reproducible range of motion screenings. Together, these innovative products have applications for virtually any sport, physical therapy, and injury rehabilitation.

Fit-Factor replaces the existing range-of-motion (ROM) tools that are currently used in physical therapy and injury/surgical rehabilitation and provides unmatched reproducibility (99%) amongst doctors. Fit-Factor is able to measure to within 1 degree a patient’s ROM for any joint in the body, information that is vital in the diagnosis and treatment of disability cases, injury rehabilitation progression, workman's compensation claims, product validation, and many other situations where accurate, repeatable ROM measurements are needed. It further allows for complex joint ROM studies that with today’s current tools are impractical. With Fit-Factor, JZZ is able to capture all three planes (sagittal, frontal, and transverse) simultaneously.

E-Factor is a software program that captures and evaluates biomechanical efficiency in sports motion, exercise technique, running, or other physical activity. Motion capture has become a valuable tool in evaluating and improving biomechanics and technique. E-Factor takes it significantly farther by identifying physical limitations that are causing or will cause pain or injury and adversely impact biomechanics and technique. This information is used to recommend an exercise or treatment program to reduce the risk of injury, provide more effective rehabilitation and improve performance. E-Factor uses sensors placed on the body to capture actual positional change as the individual moves. The measurements generated by the hardware used are accurate to within 1/10th of 1 degree and 1/100th of a millimeter. E-Factor eliminates guesswork by providing solutions for preventing injuries, identifying physical limitations, diagnosing pre-existing injuries related to biomechanics, and improving physical performance.
